Coastal Catering Chooses Option 2 !

temp-post-image

It wasn’t a great leap to take our country from a 15 day social distancing requirement to an additional 30+ day mandate. I get it, slow the spread, and flatten the curve of COVID-19, and I believe, it’s the best option we have. But this Stinks!

As a Wedding and Event Custom Caterer our livelihoods depends on Weddings and Events. That means we aren’t doing Wedding Catering, Event Catering or Corporate Catering from March 15 – May 10 (or beyond). That’s a very long time with virtually no business for small business owners. Never had this kind of problem before. Yep, the mortgage is still due, the Utility Company still wants their money and Netflix is still Netfli...

When Choosing a Caterer

temp-post-image

When choosing a Caterer…

A few months ago, I was invited to an event honoring a good friend who was receiving a very prestigious award. It was also great to see so many friends and folks from our community gathered to celebrate this special occasion… She really deserves her award, and everyone knows it.

The evening started with dinner at a beautiful waterfront venue in Galveston. The buffet was beautiful! Looked stunning. The serving line started with a mixed greens salad and your choice of three dressings- Ranch, Italian and Blue Cheese… followed by mixed veggies, potatoes and then the Carving Station (cold Pork Loin) entrée and a big bowl of shrimp and their &ld...

Cloves Pairs Well with Red Wine

temp-post-image

Cloves, like many herbs and spices have a historical presence that dates to centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ. A ceramic vase containing cloves was found by archeologists in Syria and dates to approximately 1700 B.C. It has been written in ancient Chinese literature that during the third century B.C. that cloves were used to freshen the breath of visitors to the emperor of the Han Dynasty. Muslim sailors traded this spice during the Middle Ages. The trading of cloves is even mentioned in literature such as The Arabian Nights. Characters like Sinbad the Sailor bought and sold cloves from India.

Chilled Peach Bliss

At our daughter's upcoming wedding the first course will be a choice of three chilled soups. Two will be a little savory and our Chilled Peach Bliss will be sweet. Peach Season is coming and this recipe will put a big smile on your face. Oh, one cool thing about this recipe is that it works well with frozen peaches, too!

Coastal Catering is Cooking on the Radio!

Welcome to Coastal Catering... we're live on GLVI Radio.

Yes, it seems weird to me too... cooking on the radio, but a lot of folks listen, cooking is fun and we're making it easy. Our recipes are tried and true and flexible. So, relax and enjoy. Each month our recipes will change, yet our promise to you remains the same... Cooking for fun! I promise not to use recipes with "expensive ingredients" or that take 3 days to prepare for. For those living on the Island we'll be purchasing food like you do... at Kroger's, Walmart, Randall's and even 7 Sea's in Jamaica Beach. Our Seafood will come from Katy's Seafood on the wharf. Lastly, some will be low-carb, others allow for low-fat substitutes an...

Because we care … at Coastal Catering we Recycle

temp-post-image

We LOVE our community and the world!

When you live and cook on an Island you gain a greater appreciation for refuse that’s just thrown into a trash can or dumpster that gets emptied into a landfill. Well, actually, our appreciations is for keeping as much of our stuff out of the landfill as is possible.

We hand select all of our produce from wonderful vendors. Fresh is always best. That’s why we walk into coolers, open boxes and inspect fresh fruits and veggies. Unlike most caterers whose products are dropped off from big trucks, we take the time to shop… the results are fresher, healthier and beautiful dishes.

At Coastal Catering we compost our organic waste, we recycle car...
